Summary
The Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology is seeking a highly motivated Senior Staff Scientist to join an established and well-recognized research team. The current research focus of this project is on T cell biology and cancer immunology. This position involves both independent and collaborative work using a variety of in vitro and in vivo experimental models. The primary focus of the project is T cell biology, including the isolation, manipulation, and phenotypic characterization of immune cell populations, with an emphasis on T cells. Also,responsibilities will be focused on bench level scientific activities and the efficient preparation of well-documented materials suitable for FDA IND-enabling studies. The Senior Staff Scientist is expected to assist other members of our research team and communicate closely with them to perform complex multi-person scientific tasks.
Job Duties
- Direct and conduct research experiments that include primary cell harvesting, cell culture maintenance, DNA and protein preparation, PCR, Western blot, Flow cytometry, ELISA. Requires a high-level of skills and expertise.
- Perform genetic editing in primary cells and cell cultures using CRISPR/Cas technology and analyze the results.
- Work independently and in conjunction with others who are part of the Laboratory.
- Record and summarize research findings.
- Evaluate and analyze data.
- Establish new research protocols and procedures.
- Conduct literature searches and summarize information in an appropriate format.
- Perform other job related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Doctoral Degree. Experience may not be substituted in lieu of degree.
- Seven years of postdoctoral research experience.
Department Specific Criteria
- Must have strong hands-on experience in fundamental cell and molecular biology techniques and a willingness to learn and implement new methodologies.
- Strong communication skills, attention to details, and the ability to work effectively within a team environment are essential for success in this role.
