Work Schedule:  Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Summary

The Department of Pathology & Immunology at Baylor College of Medicine, in partnership with Texas Children’s Hospital, seeks a Sr. Research Coordinator.  Texas Children’s Hospital has established a large pediatric biobank in which patient samples are collected, processed, and banked to support future multi-omic and translational research.  We are seeking a Senior Research Coordinator to support the continued growth of this critical research resource. This position plays a central role in participant recruitment, consent, study coordination, regulatory oversight, and biospecimen logistics.  The Senior Research Coordinator will work under the direction of Biobank leadership while exercising strong independent judgment in managing day-to-day responsibilities.

Job Duties

  • Lead participant recruitment, screening, enrollment, informed consent, and scheduling activities in accordance with IRB-approved protocols and institutional policies. 20%
  • Serve as a primary liaison between clinical teams, laboratory staff, and investigators to ensure timely and accurate specimen acquisition and associated clinical data capture. 10%
  • Monitor protocol adherence and human subjects protections, including reporting and documentation of adverse events or unanticipated problems as required. 15%
  • Oversee and coordinate the collection, entry, and quality review of research and participant data. May develop and maintain databases or participant charts. 15%
  • Prepare and maintain regulatory documentation for IRB submissions, continuing reviews, amendments, and other internal and external oversight bodies. 20%
  • Contribute to continuous process improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, participant experience, and biobank scalability. 10%
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned in support of biobank operations and growth. 10%

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • Five years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience obtaining informed consent and enrolling participants in research studies.
  • Familiarity with REDCap, EPIC, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Prior experience with IRB submissions.
  • Completion of CITI training or similar research compliance coursework.
  • Supervisory or lead experience.
