Summary
The Senior Registered Dietitian for the Section of Gastroenterology and Hepatology will provide nutrition assessment, counseling, and medical nutrition therapy for patients with gastrointestinal conditions in an outpatient clinic setting. The Registered Dietitian will support patients requiring dietary management for a wide range of GI disorders and will assist with nutrition support needs. The role works as part of the GI care team to help optimize patient outcomes and support ongoing nutrition education and follow-up care.
Job Duties
- Provides nutrition assessments and develops individualized nutrition care plans for patients with GI conditions.
- Counsels patients on therapeutic GI-focused diets, including low-FODMAP diets and other symptom directed dietary strategies.
- Supports patients requiring tube feeding and coordinates nutrition related needs for patients .
- Documents nutrition care in the electronic medical record and communicates recommendations to the care team.
- Participates in patient education efforts and contributes to updating nutrition related materials.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Nutrition or related field.
- Five years of relevant experience.
- Registered Dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) of the American Dietetic Association and a Licensed Dietitian by the Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation (TDLR).
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a related field.
- Experience in gastroenterology or digestive health.
- Experience with enteral nutrition (tube feeding) and parenteral nutrition (TPN) management.
- Experience with GI specific diets such as low FODMAP, gluten-free, elimination diets, or nutrition management for IBS, GERD, and IBD.
- Experience supporting nutrition care related to obesity management.
- Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC) or eligibility to obtain certification.
