Summary
The department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to manage a multi million dollar portfolio of state and federal funds distributed across 15+ initiatives for the Baylor College of Medicine Texas Child Mental Health Care Consortium (TCMHCC) program. This position will manage and oversee day to day expenditures, develop and distribute detailed monthly financial reports to department leadership and stakeholders, and maintain ongoing communication with stakeholders to manage anticipated expenses and budget alignment.
This position will serve as the primary senior financial analyst for the Texas Child Mental Health Care Consortium (TCMHCC) project, and report to the department administration team. This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule within the Greater Houston, TX area (1-2 days in the office) after an orientation and training period.
Job Duties
- Develop, prepare and distribute detailed monthly financial reports to 6 initiative leaders of BCM TCHMCC consortium, ensuring all parties are informed of financial status and grant utilization.
- Provide budget projections as needed to support PI decision making and avoid over- or under-spending.
- Monitor financial transactions and activities by compiling, reviewing, and reconciling across the TCMHCC consortium portfolio.
- Ensure timely, accurate, and detailed reporting to TCMHCC, BCM, and external sponsors, supporting efficient use of funds.
- Maintain ongoing communication with TCMHCC BCM Project Leads and department administration (department HR, Research Admin, etc.) to understand anticipated expenses, and regularly update stakeholders on anticipated cash flow needs.
- Reconcile actual expenses against budget projections, investigating any discrepancies or variances between planned and actual spending. Reviews expenditure discrepancies alongside external sponsor and BCM central offices.
- Create, manage, and review purchase orders (POs) in BCM’s procurement system, Jaggaer, ensuring all expenses are appropriately documented and routed for approval.
- Collaborate with Senior Research Administration Associate to adjust overarching program agreements, financial budgets loaded in SAP S4-Hana, suggest recommendations for reallocating funds when necessary.
- Review contracts to capture key financial information, such as anticipated expenses and end dates, ensuring all agreements are properly documented for budgeting purposes.
- Provide insight into financial trends that may affect future budget decisions and expenditure plans.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or a related field.
- Four years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in Finance or directly related field (such as an MBA with a Finance specialization) and two years of relevant experience will also be considered.
- Experience with SAP/Jaggaer/Concur
