Work Schedule:  Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Summary

The Department of Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine at CHRISTUS Children's is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to support and advance the financial performance of our clinical mission. As a key member of the Department's administration office, this role is responsible for financial forecasting, supplemental payments, budget requests, and related financial operations. The Senior Financial Analyst reports to the Executive Director and partners closely with more than 225 faculty physicians and scientists to provide financial insight, analysis, and operational support.

 

This position is critical to the financial partnership between Baylor College of Medicine and CHRISTUS Children's, supporting a growing multi-mission academic Pediatrics department. The Senior Financial Analyst interacts regularly with senior faculty, Department leadership, and finance counterparts at both institutions, which requires discretion, professionalism, and strong written and verbal communication. Work involves highly confidential compensation, faculty, and institutional financial data; attention to data integrity and internal controls is essential. The Senior Financial Analyst may provide guidance, mentoring, and day-to-day training to other administrative staff. 

Job Duties

BCM-CHRISTUS Faculty Compensation Plan Management (70%)

  • Serves as the financial lead for the BCM-CHRISTUS faculty compensation plan. Supports administration of the BCM-CHRISTUS faculty compensation plan, including preparation of compensation distributions, reconciliations, and performance reporting plan.
  • Maintains dashboards and standardized reporting templates used by Department leadership, section chiefs, and faculty.
  • Analyzes faculty productivity, clinical revenue, and compensation data to support plan administration. Analyzes faculty clinical productivity (wRVUs), revenue, and compensation data to support plan administration and leadership decisions.
  • Prepares compensation distributions, reconciliations, and plan performance reports.
  • Partners with BCM and CHRISTUS leadership, department administrators, and faculty on plan questions and updates. 
  • Models the impact of plan design changes and supports annual plan review.

Financial Analysis and Forecasting (20%)

  • Participates in the annual budget development process, including financial modeling, data input, and analytical review.
  • Performs financial analysis and prepare monthly forecasts and budget reports. 
  • Develops financial reports and presentations, including variance analyses and identification of financial risks and opportunities.
  • Prepares and submits documentation for budget revisions and other financial requests, as needed.

Financial Controls and Transactional Review (10%)

  • Reviews and approves financial entries and transactions, such as journal entries and purchase orders. 
  • Calculates, prepares and submits supplemental pay compensation transactions. 
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or a related field.
  • Four years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Healthcare Administration, or MBA.
  • Experience in an academic medical center, hospital, or pediatric healthcare finance.
  • Experience with physician or faculty compensation plans, ideally in a clinical and academic setting.
  • Working knowledge of clinical productivity metrics (wRVUs) and related reporting.
  • Experience with SAP, Concur, or similar enterprise financial and expense systems.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and Access skills and experience with financial modeling and reporting tools.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the discretion to handle sensitive compensation and financial information. 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across the Department. 
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, efficient, and strong organizational skills.
