Summary
The Department of Medicine, Section of Gastroenterology & Hepatology at Baylor College of Medicine seeks a highly motivated Senior Clinical Research Associate to support day‑to‑day operations of Dr. Hashem El‑Serag’s research projects . This position oversees participant recruitment and enrollment , collects and processes biospecimens and imaging‑linked samples, and coordinates data collection and analysis, and modeling studies across AIMs and Program Project activities. The role also develops and maintains study databases, manages regulatory submissions to internal and external bodies, and ensures proper reporting and protocol compliance across collaborating institutions.
The ideal candidate is organized, self‑directed, and skilled at supporting clinical research operations. This is a full‑time, onsite, Monday–Friday position (40 hours/week).
Job Duties

- Acts as primary liaison of THCCC coordinating center to external sites in liver cancer multicenter research study. Answers all protocol-related questions and troubleshoots logistical concerns.
- Oversees and coordinates data collection, entry, and analysis for cohort, biomarker, and risk‑model studies.
- Prepares submission documents for IRB and other regulatory bodies.
- Recruits, screens, enrolls, consents, and schedules MAFLD‑cirrhosis cohort participants across THCCC sites.
- Collects and reports adverse events for longitudinal cohort and surveillance activities.

- Provides expertise in analysis of risk stratification data, incorporating knowledge of etiological, metabolic, and radiomic factors.
- Collects and processes biospecimens and imaging‑linked samples for AIM and Program Project assays.
- Oversees and coordinates data collection, entry, and analysis for cohort, biomarker, and risk‑model studies.

- Drafting and critical revision of cirrhosis and liver cancer-related manuscripts that result from the THCCC and related studies.
- Performs other related duties supporting THCCC cohort operations, data harmonization, and core activities.
- Develops and maintains databases supporting risk stratification, biomarker validation, and modeling work.

- Orients and trains new clinical research staff to support liver cancer studies.

- Assists with liver cancer grant and NIH/CPRIT progress report preparation by aggregating supporting data.
- Assists with drafting and revision of grants and NIH/CPRIT progress reports.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- Four years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's or Medical degree.
- Research experience.
