Job Title:  Scheduling Specialist II - Urology

Salary Range:  $39,150 - $46,059
FLSA Status:  Nonexempt
Work Schedule:  Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Summary

Urology is seeking a Scheduling Specialist II to assist with scheduling patient surgical appointments in an efficient and timely manner.

 

This position may require the flexibilty to work after hours as needed.

Job Duties

  • Books, coordinates, and reschedules patient appointments.
  • Verifies insurance of new and returning patients.
  • Greets patients in clinic and answers questions.
  • Schedules surgeries, pre and post surgical appointments, and admissions as requested.
  • Answers the telephone and routes patient calls.
  • Maintains and updates current information on physician's schedules ensuring that patients are scheduled properly and appointments are confirmed.
  • Assists with preparation of agendas, materials, meetings, etc.
  • Assembles patient charts for next day visits; updates profiles on patients.
  • Calls patients to remind them of their appointments.
  • Verifies insurance and pre-certification of insurance benefits.
  • Creates surgical appointment/referral shell in EPIC.
  • Confirms special requests for instruments and equipment.
  • Schedules and follow up with Cardiologist, PCP and Pulmonary doctors for patient surgical clearances.
  • Works with outside faculty as needed to coordinate combination surgical cases.
  • Updates and maintains faculty outlook calendar.
  • Retrieves faxes pertaining to patient surgical cases.
  • Routes and Scans all appropriate test results, prescriptions, FMLA paperwork.
  • Attends weekly faculty/staff meetings.
  • Efficiently schedules surgical patient appointments including timely financial clearances.
  • Routes calls to appropriate staff member.
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Epic experience.
  • Surgery scheduling experience.
