Summary
Baylor College of Medicine- CHRISTUS Children's in San Antonio is seeking a highly motivated and competent professional to serve as a Senior Professional Fee Coder with primary responsibilities for managing and supporting the day-to-day functions of the revenue cycle under the direction of the Lead, Revenue Cycle. The candidate must be skilled in performing complex tasks required in healthcare services within the revenue cycle, to include documentation reviews, denial analysis, and educational initiatives but not limited to coding and provider education.
The ideal candidate will have strong operational skills and ability to gain the confidence of faculty, staff, leaders, colleagues, etc. Will have experience with revenue integrity and can demonstrates a professional, positive attitude with strong interpersonal and communication skills. Is able to work independently and collaboratively to meet deadlines. Also is highly detail-oriented, self-motivated, efficient, and strong organizational skills. Lastly, can demonstrate a high degree of flexibility in accepting work assignments with the ability to effectively prioritize tasks, understand processes, and resolve issues.
Job Duties
Comprehensive Support Documentation, Coding Reviews, Denial Trend Reporting & Audit Summaries
- Reviews provider documentation for compliance and accuracy under guidance.
- Flags potential coding issues and forward to Lead, Revenue Cycle for resolution.
- Compiles data for dashboards and reports based on audit outcomes.
- Assists in formatting and distributing reports to Division and CHRISTUS leadership.
Assists with Monitoring & Analyzing Revenue Cycle Performance
- Supports denial trend analysis by gathering data and preparing summary reports.
- Assists in identifying root causes of denials and escalate findings to Lead, Revenue Cycle for resolution.
Develop Educational Materials & Assist with Training
- Assists Lead, Revenue Cycle to create handouts, presentations, and educational reminders.
- Supports training sessions by preparing materials and tracking attendance.
Responds to Provider Inquiries & Route Questions
- Serves as a resource for basic coding and documentation questions.
- Escalates complex inquiries to Lead, Revenue Cycle.
Other Duties as Assigned
- Provides administrative and operational support for revenue cycle projects.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Five years of relevant experience.
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC).
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word).
- Two to four years auditing experience.
- Experience in an academic setting.
- Experience working with EPIC.
