Summary
The Senior Perfusionist is responsible for the delivery of advanced patient care as needed during a surgical procedure.
Job Duties
- Develops and initiates interdisciplinary care plan and other case management tools.
- Performs, administers and assists with diagnostic tests and clinical procedures.
- Maintains and operates cardiopulmonary pump, Cell Saver, auto transfuser and intra-aortic balloon pump during invasive cardiovascular procedures.
- Develops and initiates interdisciplinary care plan and other case management tools.
- Performs, administers and assists with diagnostic tests and clinical procedures utilizing established procedures and protocols.
- Coordinates information and care requirements among care providers related to treatments, procedures,medications and continuing patient care.
- Sets up and operates heart-lung machine to assume the functions of patient organs during surgery.
- Ensures that pump team supplies and equipment are always readily available.
- May administer medicines through the cardiopulmonary bypass circuit.
- Operates equipment to achieve bypass, coronary perfusion, recirculation or partial bypass, or to alter blood content, temperature or balance.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and completion of an accredited Perfusionist Technology program.
- Four years of relevant experience.
- Licensed Perfusionist (LP) by the State of Texas Medical Board (TMB).
- Certified Clinical Perfusionist (CCP) by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion (ABCP).
