CHRISTUS Children's, a world-class 240-bed freestanding children's hospital in San Antonio, serves as a focal point for pediatric services throughout the community. In 2013, CHRISTUS Health finalized an agreement partnering with Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) to recruit, employ, and oversee physicians and advanced practice providers at CHRISTUS Children's.

Baylor College of Medicine Division of Pediatric General Surgery has an opening for a full-time NP or PA position at CHRISTUS Children's. Working in a high volume and patient-oriented clinic, this position will be responsible for the management of patients with pediatric acute and general surgical conditions under the direct supervision of pediatric BCM general surgeons. Job Duties
Responsibilities include assess, diagnose, monitor, promote health and protection from disease, and manage illnesses and injuries of stable complex acute and chronically ill pediatric patients. Assess, stabilize, and determine disposition of patients with emergent conditions consistent with medical staff policy regarding emergency and consultative call services. Essential job functions and duties include, but are not limited to:

- Evaluation of new and returning patients in the ED, inpatient wards and outpatient clinics, including history and physical exams, diagnosis and recommendations for treatment
- Post-operative care including wound care, dressing changes, and DME prescriptions
- Call coverage
Minimum Qualifications
Education Required:
- Physician Assistant Candidates: Master’s degree in physician assistant studies. Bachelor’s degree in physician assistant studies accepted based on terminal degree requirements at time of graduation.
- Nurse Practitioner Candidates: Master’s degree in nursing.
Certification/Licenses/Registration:
- Physician Assistant Candidates: Current license as a Physician Assistant by the State of Texas Physician Assistant Board.
- Nurse Practitioner Candidates: Current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the State of Texas Board of Nursing. Current Texas Licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APRN-NP).
Experience Required: None required.
Specialty certification as required by department.
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
