Title: Lead, Perfusionist-San Antonio
Summary
The Lead Perfusionist is responsible for the delivery of patient care as needed during a surgical procedure and serves as the lead for the surgical or clinical team. This position is located in San Antonio, TX.
Job Duties
- Develops and initiates interdisciplinary care plan and other case management tools.
- Performs, administers and assists with diagnostic tests and clinical procedures utilizing established procedures and protocols.
- Coordinates information and care requirements among care providers related to treatments, procedures, medications and continuing patient care.
- Sets up and operates heart-lung machine to assume the functions of patient organs during surgery.
- Operates equipment to achieve bypass, coronary perfusion, recirculation or partial bypass, or to alter blood content, temperature or balance.
- Proposes improvements to processes.
- Develops training in-service programs.
- May administer medicines through the cardiopulmonary bypass circuit.
- Acts as a lead, coordinating and facilitating the work of others.
- Ensures that the patients' physiological and metabolic needs are stable so that the cardiac surgeon may operate.
- May be involved in procurement of cardiothoracic donor organs for transplant.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and completion of an accredited Perfusionist Technology program.
- Six years of relevant experience.
- Licensed Perfusionist (LP) by the State of Texas Medical Board (TMB). Certified Clinical Perfusionist (CCP) by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion (ABCP).
