The Section of Hematology/Oncology of the Department of Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine has an opening for a full-time Pediatric Nurse Practitioner faculty position at the Children's Hospital of San Antonio (CH of SA). This position comes with a faculty appointment within the Department of Pediatrics, a competitive salary, and full benefits package.  The rank of the appointment will be determined by the candidates' credentials and experience.

Job Purpose

Provides advanced nursing care to patients in a clinical setting in an area of specialization under the direction of a physician.

Job Duties

Responsibilities include provision of comprehensive care to Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) service patients at CH of SA.  This position manages a group of clinically complex or resource intensive patients.  Management includes assessing, diagnosing, planning and prescribing pharmacological (in a collaborative practice) and non-pharmaceutical treatment for health problems according to established protocols, standards of care, health promotion and preventive care within a specialized area of practice. Performs physical and psychological assessments, diagnosis and treatment of episodic illnesses in collaboration with physicians; performs diagnostic procedures, oversees the administration of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, blood products and supportive therapies, coordinates and communicates all aspects of care with patients/family and the health care team.  Performs the role of advanced practice nurse through clinical practice, education, research and consultation with multidisciplinary groups utilizing a holistic approach to wellness.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Education: Master's Degree in Nursing or Science
Minimum Licenses: Current Registered Nurse license and advance practice recognition by the Texas Board of Nursing or Eligible for same, Board certification in hematology/oncology (or eligible for same.
