Salary Range:  $39,150 - $46,059
FLSA Status:  Nonexempt
Work Schedule:  Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Summary

We are looking for a new team member who is very organized and detail orientated. The position requires working as part of a  team with day to day communication with supervisors. The applicant should have a track record of teamwork in an office environment. The technician will clone new transgenic constructs, create new stocks and conduct animal husbandry to test the created reagents. 

Job Duties

  • Help generate new transgenic reagents and strategies for the fly community.
  • Design and conduct molecular cloning to create new transgenic constructs 
  • Coordinate with other team members to create transgenic Drosophila stocks 
  • Design and execute multi-generation Drosophila husbandry to generate experimental animals to test the generated reagents
  • Immunofluorescence and confocal microscopy: 
       - Data analysis using ImageJ, Photoshop, and Excel; 
       - Record results in digital notebook 
  • Conducts assays to assess and quantify neurotoxic protein levels using immunoblotting techniques
  • Conducts histopathological analyses from Drosophila brain sections immunostained with specific antibodies
  • Present acquired data regularly in lab meetings 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • One year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in basic science or a related field.
  • This position requires someone with hands on experience with Drosophila and advanced cloning techniques
