Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Technician with prior experience in rodent colony management.  The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting a dynamic research team focused on cancer biology, hematopoiesis and genetic models.  This position requires strong organizational skills, technical competence in mouse and frog husbandry, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

This position involves working in animal facilities and standard molecular biology laboratories.  Candidate must be comfortable working with live animals (mice and frogs), biological samples, and laboratory chemicals.  Protective equipment and training will be provided.  

Job Duties

• Place orders, maintain inventory, and manage general lab supplies and stock.
• Maintain cleanliness and compliance of lab spaces and procedural areas.
• Coordinate with vendors and facilities as needed for equipment maintenance.
• Perform routine breeding, weaning, and cage management for multiple genetically modified mouse lines.
• Execute precise genotyping through PCR and maintain accurate records of lineage and genotype.
• Monitor and document phenotypic characteristics for research models.
• Schedule and conduct tissues collection for downstream analyses.
• Assist in preparing samples for hematological and immunophenotyping assays.
• Conduct flow cytometry (FACS) samples preparation and basic analysis.
• Handle blood, bone marrow, spleen, and thymus dissection for downstream assays.
• Participate in vivo tumor model experiments including injections, monitoring, and tissue collection.
• Maintain detailed health and procedural logs for study animals.
• Maintain Xenopus frog tanks, including feeding, cleaning, and monitoring of aquatic systems.
• Maintain a detail registry of tumor specimens, genetically modified mice models.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
• No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Graph-Pad software.
• Must be fluent in verbal and written english.
• Goal-oriented mindset, proactive, engaged, and take initiative in all work-related tasks.
• At least 1-2 years of hands-on experience in rodent animal care in a research setting.
• Familiarity with transgenic and knockout mouse models.
• Basic molecular biology skills (e.g., PCR genotyping).
• Ability to work flexible hours, including some weekends and holidays as needed.
• Commitment to humane animal care and adherence to IACUC and institutional guidelines.
• Experience with hematopoiesis research or immunology.
• Familiarity with FACS sample preparation or analysis.
• Experience with Xenopus frog care.
• Strong communication, record-keeping, and organizational skills.
