Summary
The position is for a technician to provide research assistance for the establishment and propagation of 3D organoid cultures as part of a collaborative effort between Baylor College of Medicine 3D Organoid Core and the Ramani Lab in the Department of Molecular Virology and Microbiology. This job is suitable for a technician who can handle multiple projects and can follow instructions to complete assignments under minimal supervision by senior research staff members. Technical skills include sterile techniques for the maintenance and culturing of cells, microscopy, and RT-qPCR. A responsible and dedicated individual is required. This position will offer unique experience working with an organoid core while gaining translational research experience in a dynamic and highly collaborative laboratory.
Job Duties
- Establishes, validates, and maintains organoid cultures and bacterial communities.
- Collects, compiles, and analyzes validation results on the cultures and communities.
- Documents and stores cultures and communities.
- Works on data entry into Core databases.
- Contributes to core maintenance that includes ordering supplies, general clean up, freezer cataloging, and maintaining lab equipment.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
- No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences or equivalent.
- Experience in an academic research lab with tissue culture expertise and experience with sterile technique are desirable.
