Summary
Coordinates day to day activities of research protocols which include screening, enrollment, and monitoring of research participants. Ensures accurate data collection, documentation, organization and safety of research participants. Factor Health builds, tests and scales health programs delivered in the landscape of people’s lives.
We are looking for a research staff person to assist with the planning support, direct research participant contact, and measurement collection for our Kidney Health: Eat Well, Live Well program in Houston, Texas. Data collection as part of a research trial that rigorously tests the efficacy of the health intervention will be a major component of overall responsibilities.
The research staff will primarily be involved in the Kidney Health program, with a possibility of being involved in other programs as well. This position is a temporary position with an end date of 08/31/2026 renewable based upon availability of funding, work performance, and progress toward goals.
Job Duties
- Works closely with Factor Health research and implementation team and Harris Health partners on a range of activities during both progarm implementation and research activities.
- Outreaches to, screens and recruits patients for study; explains process and procedures to educate participant and provides informed consent.
- Assists research staff with ideas on how to improve research procedures to optimize program development, implementation, and recruitment.
- Reviews electronic medical records for study inclusion and exclusion criteria in collaboration with Harris Health partners and clinical champions.
- Collects data from participants at clinic sites. This will include collection of biospecimens (finger-stick and urine samples for clinical tests), and the collection of measurements such as height and weight, blood pressure, and survey questions.
- Enters and quality checks research data into central database for future analysis.
- Builds relationships with a participant-first mentality and treating all participants with respect, dignity and understanding.
- Manages and tracks outreach progress in close collaboration with research manager.
- Reports enrollment progress in weekly reports and during team huddles.
- Maintains and manages research supply inventory.
- Maintain privacy and confidentiality of participants’ health and other personal information.
- Performs other job duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
- One year of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in patient-facing roles.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Fluent in Spanish.
- Background in clinical research.
- Demonstrates composure and professionalism in verbal communication, especially in high-pressure or patient-facing situations.
