Job Title:  Research Assistant I
Division:  Molecular and Cell Biology

Salary Range:  $47,372 - $55,731
FLSA Status:  Nonexempt
Work Schedule:  Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Summary

The role involves planning, directing, and conducting research experiments while evaluating and analyzing the resulting data. The position requires developing and implementing research techniques specific to the projects at hand. Responsibilities also include conducting literature searches and summarizing relevant information in appropriate formats for various studies. The incumbent will document experimental results and report findings to principal investigators. 

 

The candidate is expected to perform experiments and analyze results. This role will involve conducting cell culture-based experiments , protein expression and purification and handling animals. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated individual capable of working both independently and as part of a team within a large research laboratory setting.

Job Duties

  • Plan, direct, and conduct research experiments 
  • Evaluate and analyze experimental data 
  • Develop and implement research techniques specific to assigned projects 
  • Conduct literature searches and summarize findings for various studies 
  • Document experimental results and report findings to principal investigators 
  • Perform laboratory experiments and analyze outcomes 
  • Handle and work with animal models 
  • Work effectively both independently and within a large research laboratory team 
  • Collaborate with team members on complex, multi-person scientific tasks 
  • Primarily engage in bench-level scientific activities  
  • Demonstrate strong experience in cell culture, protein expression, and purification

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or a related field.
  • Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in basic science or a related field.
  • The ideal candidate for this role will primarily engage in bench-level scientific activities and have strong experience in cell culture, protein expression and purification.
  • The candidate will be expected to assist fellow research team members in executing intricate, multi-person scientific tasks. 
  • Animal handling highly preferred.
