Summary

The Center for Drug Discovery (https://www.bcm.edu/research/centers/drug-discovery) is a strategic research center at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. We are currently seeking a highly motivated, well-organized and enthusiastic part-time Research  Assistant contributing to our research in the fields of drug metabolism and the study of blood-testis barrier (BTB). Our laboratory is well-equipped with advanced instruments such as Thermos UHPLC-Q Exactive MS, Orbitrap Exploris™ 120, Thermo Quintus (triple quadruple), and Imaging mass spectrometry (IMS, Bruker timsTOF fleX MALDI-2) to conduct LC-MS-metabolomics, pharmacokinetics, and spatial metabolomics. Work Schedule Monday- Friday 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Job Duties

  • Assist PI and postdocs recording and organizing data as well as standardize the laboratory protocols.
  • Conducting sample preparation for LC-MS, data collection, and omic data analysis.
  • Conducting cell culture and cytotoxicity assay.
  • Maintain lab inventory, supplies, and support general lab maintenance and organization (e.g., avoiding duplicated supply ordering, chemical expiration and lacking fundamental supply.
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned (e.g., Conduct literature searching and prepare summaries)
     

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or a related field.
  • Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in basic science or a  related field.
  • Experience in laboratory research preferred. 
  • Experience in data analysis for LC-MS data. 
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work both independently.
