A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Nabil Ahmed in the Department of Pediatrics Hematology-Oncology at Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children's Cancer Center at Texas Children's Hospital, Houston, Texas. The postdoc will be part of a research team consisting of medical professionals, scientists and technicians experimenting on novel immune based therapies for treating cancer. The postdoc will function at the postdoctoral level of complexity that requires expert knowledge on immunology and cancer as well as skilled expertise in molecular biology, cell culture and immunology techniques. The research will focus on developing and optimizing novel gene modified T-cells against solid tumors. The Postdoctoral Associate will build on the results of our laboratory's ongoing clinical trials to design and develop highly-innovative and specific gene modified T-cells and test them in relevant pre-clinical models of the disease.

Job Purpose

The Postdoctoral Associate will be expected to tackle challenging scientific problems, develop and optimize functional assays using up to date technologies, and contribute to the positive and energetic work environment of our laboratory.

Job Responsibilties
  • Cloning
  • Design and production of viral vectors
  • Gene silencing
  • Functional cell assays (e.g. cytotoxicity, proliferation, growth assays)
Minimum Qualifications

Education: Ph.D in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.


  • Must have a peer-reviewed publication record.
  • Possess a strong background in immunology especially T-cell biology and cell/molecular biology.
