Summary
The primary purpose of this Postdoctoral Associate position is to be trained to be an independent researcher in using the system biology to study retinal disorders including diabetic retinopathy, retinopathy of prematurity, age-related macular degeneration, and to develop innovative treatment strategies.
Job Duties
- Designs both in vitro and in vivo research experiments; selects and determines appropriate research procedures; performs the experiments.
- Collects, compiles, and analyzes data, as well as documents and interprets experimental results.
- Reports research activities to principal investigators.
- Drafts abstracts and manuscripts for presentation at conferences and publication in peer-reviewed journals.
- Trains undergraduate and graduate students.
- Communicates with lab staff and assigns tasks to appropriate personnel.
- Oversees maintenance of lab equipment and environment.
Minimum Qualifications
- MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
- No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Candidates should have Ph.D. in life sciences and motivation for high-quality research.
- Experience with molecular/cellular biology, genetics or biochemistry is preferred.
- Prior experience in the following areas is preferred: histopathology, transcriptome profiling, advanced in vivo imaging in animal models, gene therapy, and drug delivery.
- Excellent (written and verbal) communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
