Summary

A funded postdoctoral position in stem cell biology and regeneration is available in the lab of Dr. Blair Benham-Pyle at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. The Benham-Pyle laboratory leverages the remarkable regenerative capacity of the planarian flatworm Schmidtea mediterranea to study stem cells, aging, regeneration, and cancer prevention. In particular, we have received funding to investigate stem cell and adult tissue rejuvenation mechanisms in flatworms, with the potential to translate our finding into mammalian cell culture and animal models. We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to contribute to and build on these studies. Experiments and training are likely to include bulk and single-cell multi-omics, RNAi screens, and advanced methods in whole mount in situ hybridization, tissue clearing, and immunofluorescence. The position also offers excellent career development opportunities, opportunities for high-impact publication, and attendance at international conferences.

The ideal candidate will be interested in exploring a range of emergent questions in stem cell biology, cancer prevention, and tissue regeneration. PhD Degree, writing and presentation skills, and a track record of peer-reviewed publication is required. Experience in stem and developmental cell biology, molecular and cell biology techniques, and genomics are desirable. Finally, the successful candidate will be committed to supporting a diverse, open, and collaborative research training environment for all lab members and colleagues.
