Summary
The center for cardiac engineering and regenerative medicine in the Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery is seeking an enthusiastic Postdoctoral Associate to support with research projects in the field of cardiomyocyte biology and cardiac regeneration. The primary functions of this position involve design, execution, and control of laboratory research studies under the direction of the principal investigator. Postdoctoral Associate for this position should have a strong background in molecular biology, histological analysis and cardiac surgery in animal models is desired. Postdoctoral Associate with experience in cardiac physiology are also strongly encouraged to apply. The main responsibilities of this position will be to develop, design, and conduct experiments related to the mission of the lab, collect, and analyze data, and assist in the preparation of research manuscripts and presentations for publication and conferences. Further responsibilities will include training of laboratory professionals and students, development, and revision of existing research methodologies, and critical analyses of relevant literature. The Postdoctoral Associate will also be responsible for the general maintenance and operation of laboratory equipment, as well as troubleshooting instruments and protocols, as necessary.

Job Duties
- Supports with research projects in the field of cardiomyocyte biology and cardiac regeneration.
- Designs, executes, and controls, laboratory research studies under the direction of the principal investigator.
- Plans, directs, and conducts specialized and advanced research experiments.
- Evaluates and analyzes data.
- Establishes new research protocols and procedures.
- Summarizes research findings and publish results in research journals.
- Works and responsible for laboratory operations.
- Supervises research staff.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
- No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD level of wet laboratory experience preferably in cardiac physiology.
- Strong background in molecular biology, histological analysis and cardiac surgery in animal models is desired.
- Experience in cardiac physiology is a plus.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational, interpersonal and time management skills is desired.
