Summary

Provides advanced patient care to patients in a clinical setting in an area of specialization under the direction of a physician.

Job Duties

  • See gynecologic oncology patients, including, but not limited to:
    • Gynecologic cancer patients on chemotherapy
    • Post-operative patients
    • Survivorship patients
  • Provide chemotherapy teaching for gynecologic cancer regimens
  • Patient education and counseling, including consents, survivorship, healthy lifestyle, and pre-operative counseling
  • Cancer and chemotherapy symptom management
  • Order and interpret laboratory, radiologic, and diagnostic studies
  • Prescribing medications
  • Answering EPIC MyChart patient messages
  • Be available to answer questions from the infusion center (patient reactions, medication questions, etc)
  • Participate in research and clinical trials.
  • Track gynecologic cancer patients on chemotherapy
  • Ensure pre-operative patients who need pre-operative clearance is obtained and if needed, care coordination with other services and/or physicians that may be outside the BCM network
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education Required:

  • Physician Assistant Candidates: Master’s degree in physician assistant studies. Bachelor’s degree in physician assistant studies accepted based on terminal degree requirements at time of graduation.
  • Nurse Practitioner Candidates: Master’s degree in nursing.

 

Certification/Licenses/Registration:

  • Physician Assistant Candidates: Current license as a Physician Assistant by the State of Texas Physician Assistant Board.
  • Nurse Practitioner Candidates: Current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the State of Texas Board of Nursing. Current Texas Licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APRN-NP).

 

Experience Required: None required.

Specialty certification as required by department.

Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
