Summary
The position will include clinical efforts in General Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, including Inpatient Rehabilitation Services, Consult services, and/or Outpatient clinic services.
The physician's scope of practice shall be revisited by the physician, Chief of Service, and the department chair periodically, and in good faith, for purposes of expanding the physician's general physical medicine and rehabilitation practice.
Physician shall comply with and abide by all applicable standards, rulings, regulations and requirements of the United States Department of Health and Human Services (“HHS”), TJC or DNV, Medicare, Medicaid, and any other federal, state, or local governmental agency, third-party payor or accrediting body having jurisdiction or exercising authority over the Hospital, Baylor MedCare, and Rehabilitation Unit or any programs or services offered by the Hospital, Baylor MedCare, and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department.
Job Duties
• Provide inpatient clinical services at BSLMC Hospital, McNair Campus, as assigned.
• Provide inpatient consult services at BSLMC Hospitals, Kindred Hospital, and/or as assigned.
• Provide outpatient clinical services at BSLMC McNair Campus and/or as assigned.
• Physician shall maintain a day-to-day reporting relationship with the Medical Director, Chief of Service, and Chair or a designee.
• Participate in the Education and training of learners, including residents, fellows, and medical students.
• Provide call coverage at BSLMC Hospitals and others as assigned
• Will admit, manage, and discharge the inpatient rehabilitation patients.
• Will consult and follow the consult patients as appropriate and as assigned.
• Will evaluate, manage, and treat the patients in the outpatient clinic as assigned.
• Participation in committees, among other administrative duties.
• Attendance of faculty meetings, grand rounds, and other special lectures.
• Participation in quality improvement and patient safety efforts.
• Comply with regulatory requirements related to patient care and Baylor College of Medicine.
• Active Participation in faculty reviews and other departmental meetings, retreats, and activities.
• Perform other discipline and specialty-specific duties as assigned.
• In good standing on the medical staff of the Hospital and meets all criteria related to experience and training under the regulations and medical staff by-laws. Physician has a current controlled substances registration issued by each jurisdiction in which Physician is licensed and by the United States Drug Enforcement Administration in each jurisdiction in which Physician is licensed, which registrations have not been surrendered, suspended, revoked or restricted in any manner.
• Has never been excluded from participation in any state or federal health care program, including but not limited to Medicare or Medicaid.
Minimum Qualifications
• Successful Completion of ACGME-approved residency program in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
• Current Texas Medical License, and said licenses and registrations have not been suspended, revoked, or restricted in any manner.
• Current ABPM&R Certification or ABPM&R eligible in General PM&R.
• Current DEA Certification, and said licenses and registrations have not been suspended, revoked, or restricted in any manner.
