The Department of Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking exceptional candidates for a full-time faculty position as a Palliative Medicine Provider in the section of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine at an academic rank (Assistant or Associate Professor) commensurate with experience. This role will serve as the service-line medical director for the Palliative Medicine program at CHI St. Luke's The Woodlands Hospital. As a Palliative Care Provider, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive inpatient palliative care to people with serious illness, focusing on symptom management, communication, and support for patients and their families. This position will be primarily based at CHI St. Luke's The Woodlands Hospital. As a member of the BCM academic community, you are expected to role-model and teach exceptional evidence-based care. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence in clinical care and at least one additional area of focus- research, quality improvement, ethics, education or other.

Summary

Job Duties
• Provide expert clinical care to patients with serious illness, including pain and symptoms management, emotional support, and communication of treatment goals and options.
• Potentially provide palliative care to patients with serious illnesses in an ambulatory setting; including follow-up visits, symptom management, end of life care, and counseling visits.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, including physicians, nurses, social workers, and other healthcare providers, to develop and implement patient-centered care plans that align with patients' goals and preferences.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team to facilitate shared decision-making and ensure that patients' values and preferences are respected.
• Serve as service-line medical director and participate in quality improvement initiatives, including performance improvement projects and palliative care program development.
Minimum Qualifications
• Minimum Education: M.D. or equivalent
• Minimum Certification/Licensure: Licensed by the Texas Medical Board.
• Must be board-certified or board-eligible in Palliative Medicine
