Summary
The Department of Medicine - Section of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine is seeking an Instructor (Physician Assistant) to serve as an advanced practice provider for the medical intensive care unit at Baylor St. Luke's Hospital in the Texas Medical Center.
The Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine section within the Department of Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine is focused on patient care including critical care services at BSLMC in the Texas Medical Center.
Job Duties
1. Obtain detailed history and perform physical examinations.
2. Perform, order, and interpret diagnostic procedures in accordance with relevant health concerns of the patient.
3. Prescribes appropriate pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments.
4. Maintain records and write orders and progress notes in patient charts as to status, treatments, and procedures.
5. Monitors and ensures accuracy of recording on patient medical records.
6. Provide follow-up health maintenance care to patients in accordance with protocols established with the supervising physician.
7. Communicate with physicians, patients, and the family members of patients concerning patient care.
8. Collaborates with providers, and practice staff in identifying appropriate patients for care management.
9. Perform other job related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education Required: Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies. NOTE: Bachelor's degree in Physician Assistant Studies accepted based on terminal degree requirements at time of graduation.
- Experience Required: None required.
- Certification/Licenses/Registration: Current license as a Physician Assistant by the State of Texas Physician Assistant Board. Specialty certification as required by department. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
