Summary
The Texas Heart Institute at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a patient-focused medical assistant (bilingual in English and Spanish preferred) to support the Cardiology clinic in Fannin Tower. The ideal candidate will have a passion for assisting patients with clinical questions, refill requests, and care coordination.
Job Duties
- Provide direct patient care by rooming patients following established protocols and performing EKGs
- Provide clinical support for patient questions via MyChart and LiveAnswer telephone calls
- Support clinical administrative duties such as order entry, scanning medical records, and prescription refills as authorized
- May assist with insurance pre-authorizations or issues.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED and completion of a Medical Assistant Training program through an accredited institution.
- Two years of relevant experience.
- Certification/Licenses/Registration Required: Current certification as a Medical Assistant through an accredited professional organization (AAMA, AMT, ARMA, NCCT, NHA, NAHP, AMCA, AAH, AAMP, or NPS). Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through American Heart Association.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Experience with Ambulatory care.
- Experience with Cardiology care.
- Experience using EPIC.
