Summary
The Lead, Data Analytics position will support the Baylor College of Medicine School of Medicine MD program in its management of complex educational data. This position will support the integration of data sources to create generation of automated reports and dashboards that can be used for the longitudinal tracking of student and program performance. The incumbent will serve as a liaison between the MD program, the platforms in which data is collected, and BCM Information Technology units to ensure data is stored and maintained appropriately. Looking for an individual with demonstrated experience and ability to work independently in the creation of systems and dashboards.
Job Duties
- Leads the design, evolution, and long‑term stewardship of the School of Medicine’s data storage and reporting ecosystem, high‑quality data assets, and reliable analytics capabilities that support decision‑making.
- Leads and oversees end‑to‑end system integration efforts with IT, driving strategic collaboration to enhance data governance, optimize data workflows, and strengthen program‑wide data management infrastructure.
- Utilizes data architecture to identify, design, and implement automation and efficiency improvements across data collection, integration, and reporting workflows, ensuring scalable, reliable, and data operations.
- Develops, standardizes, and oversees data‑capture workflows across multiple systems (VidaNova, Jenzabar, NBME, ExamSoft, etc.), ensuring seamless integration, high‑quality data, and reliable reporting.
- Oversees and coordinates the development, validation, and deployment of recurring and ad hoc reports, including requirements definition, testing, and distribution.
- Creates and maintains automated dashboards and data visualizations in Power BI to facilitate the real-time review of student and program performance for actionable insights into student outcomes and program performance.
- Serves as the main expert and is responsible for the identification, integration, and preparation of large volumes of student and program data.
- Prepares high quality documentation that follows industry standards and aligns with BCM and IT requirements.
- Identifies, analyzes, and interprets trends or patterns in complex data sets.
- Leads stakeholder engagement and communication strategies to support adoption and effective use of reports and dashboards to meet the needs of educational programs.
- Supports technical delivery aligned with business requirements from customers, and transforms the requirements into data warehouse schema and data processes.
- Serves as a backup to the ongoing support of systems for all educational programs (e.g., VidaNova, AMBOSS).
- May provide guidance, training, or mentorship to users and team members across varying levels of data literacy.
- This position will have a dotted reported line to Office of Informational Technology and will regularly collaborate with the IT data architecture team and educational IT team.
- Meets with various SOM leaders and committee representatives to understand the reporting needs of stakeholders within BCM.
- Assists the EAR team with proctoring of exams, including serving as a Chief Proctor in alignment with NBME protocols.
- Works with other EAR faculty to integrate predictive models, when appropriate, and statistical methods into dashboards.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree. Four years of relevant experience may substitute for degree requirement.
- Six years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in an educational setting.
