Salary Range:  $57,320 - $67,435
FLSA Status:  Exempt
Work Schedule:  Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Summary

The Department of Surgery is looking to recruit a Laboratory Manager for the Eberlin Laboratory for Medical Mass Spectrometry. The Laboratory Manager will be supervising and maintaining the research operation within the laboratory. A major focus of the position will be the general maintenance and operation of laboratory materials, supplies, and equipment, as well as troubleshooting any equipments and protocols as needed.

Job Duties

  • Responsible for maintaining all laboratory supplies and organization.
  • Supervises laboratory personnel in a variety of laboratory duties.
  • Plans schedules for laboratory meetings, retreats and activities for visitors.
  • Provides support to research projects by arranging and maintaining materials and supplies in hospitals in a timely manner.
  • Consults with faculty to determine equipment purchase priorities based on budget, condition of existing equipment, and scheduled laboratory activities.
  • Arranges shipment and receives samples and materials to outside collaborators.
  • Prepares and puts in place equipment scheduled for use.
  • May demonstrate use and care of equipment to research personnel in the laboratory.
  • May maintain research databases using scientific software.
  • Arranges service calls for equipment.
  • May diagnose equipment malfunctions and dismantle and repair equipment.
  • Confers with faculty periodically to evaluate new equipment and methods.
  • May serve as biosafety officer for the laboratory or department.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • Five years of relevant experience, with prior supervisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in basic science or in a related field.
