Summary

The Laboratory Helper will provide essential biological science assistance to senior lab members in support of ongoing research projects in the Deneen Lab. This entry-level position focuses on preparing standard laboratory solutions and performing foundational wet lab tasks to ensure efficient daily operations.

Job Duties

  • Assist senior researchers with sample dissection and tissue collection protocols.
  • Accurately label tubes and experimental materials.
  • Organize and maintain biological tissue storage systems. 
  • Prepare standard chemical solutions and media according to established lab protocols.
  • Inventory lab supplies on a regular basis. 
  • Return clean glassware to its designated shelves.
  • Execute other job-related duties and logistics as assigned by the supervisor or lab manager.
  • Autoclave and sterilize laboratory media, glass beads, and experimental tubes.
  • Aliquot antibiotics and chemical buffers into designated working volumes.
  • Mount and prepare tissue sections on glass slides for microscopic imaging.
  • Update and maintain the laboratory's chemical inventory system.
  • Maintain regular, accurate documentation of all protocols and solution prep in a lab notebook.
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Candidate should have goals of pursuing career in biomedical sciences.
  • Ability to work with Microsoft word and excel.
