Summary

The intern will receive hands-on training in the functional interpretation of genetic data within a research laboratory setting. Key areas of development will include confocal imaging and image analysis, interpretation of protein expression data from Western blot experiments, and scientific writing through manuscript preparation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze confocal imaging datasets to evaluate co-localization of PDE3A variants with endoplasmic reticulum (ER) markers in cell line models
  • Generate publication-quality figures and perform quantitative analysis of Western blot data
  • Contribute to the drafting and revision of scientific manuscript sections, including Introduction, Results, and Methods, related to PDE3A research

Learning & Development Activities:

  • Participate in regular one-on-one mentorship meetings with the Principal Investigator and postdoctoral researchers
  • Attend and contribute to lab meetings, gaining exposure to ongoing research projects and scientific discussion
  • Engage in departmental seminars to broaden understanding of current advancements in molecular and human genetics

Job Purpose

Provides temporary administrative or laboratory support to a department while gaining practical work experience.  

Job Duties

  • Performs entry level administrative or laboratory duties.
  • May observe tasks related to field of study or career interest.
  • May assists with special projects/programs. 

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Must be enrolled in high school, trade/vocational school or higher education institution.
