Summary
This program is designed to provide students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the fast-paced field of clinical ethics. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to:
- Spend up to 8-weeks (May – July 2024) working with an experienced clinical faculty mentor
- Shadow clinical ethics consultants at our hospital-based clinical ethics services
- Participate in research and writing that supports the clinical ethics mission
- Gain exposure to one of the preeminent bioethics centers in the country
The Clinical Ethics Internship is an in-person, hospital-based opportunity in the Texas Medical Center in Houston, Texas.
Job Purpose
Provides temporary administrative or laboratory support to a department while gaining practical work experience.
Job Duties
- Participates in key meetings with hospital partners including ethics committee meetings, case conferences, grand rounds, and other relevant meetings.
- Involvement in bi-weekly group reading discussions with Center faculty members.
- Supports Center research projects including literature search and data analysis.
- Potential teaching and writing opportunities commensurate with the intern’s experience and expertise .
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be enrolled in high school or be a high school graduate (or equivalent secondary education) or enrolled in an institution of higher education.
