Job Title:  Intern/Aide
Division:  Medicine

Salary Range:  Hiring up to $21/hour
FLSA Status:  Nonexempt
Work Schedule:  Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Summary

The intern will work with experienced physician researchers and data scientists to learn how to apply existing statistical methods on real world healthcare datasets.

Job Purpose

Provides temporary administrative or laboratory support to a department while gaining practical work experience.  

Job Duties

  • Conducts literature searches to gather relevant information and prepare summaries for manuscripts, presentations, and meetings.
  • Assists in documenting analysis results and preparing reports to share with senior investigators during team meetings.
  • Supports the documentation of study design plans, analysis approaches, and progress reports, while learning to interpret analysis findings.
  • Aids in organizing data and creating visualizations to help communicate results effectively.
  • Collaborates closely with senior data scientists to learn best practices for data integration and handling.
  • Gains hands-on experience with cancer research databases, including SQL queries, under the mentorship of cancer researchers.
  • Carries out additional tasks and projects as assigned to support team goals and develop practical skills. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in high school or be a high school graduate (or equivalent secondary education) or enrolled in an institution of higher education.
