Title: Ultrasound Technologist II
Summary
Cardiac sonographers, or echocardiographers, use non-invasive cardiovascular technology equipment to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with heart and blood vessel conditions. The echocardiographer should have excellent communication skills in order to convey scientific information on patient condition and diagnostics to doctors, should have good bedside manner for dealing with patients and professional attitude with Physicians, colleagues and ancillary staff. Report to Clinic Manager and include Medical Director in all technical aspects of the job. Performs Echo ultrasound on patients, for the purpose of diagnosis and treatment of patients with heart and blood vessel conditions.
Job Duties
Cardiac sonographers are imaging the heart to evaluate chamber size, valve function and blood flow. They review patient files and must be familiar with most cardiac conditions in order to recognize and identify abnormalities and alert Physicians for any life threatening conditions.
Other duties are:
- Explains procedures to patients.
- Maintains ultrasound equipment and exam rooms clean at all times/Keeping the rooms stocked with linens.
- Performs Trans-thoracic echo, stress echo, echo oncology.
- Reviews/performs the echo for different research teams and follow their protocols
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Three years of relevant experience.
- Registration as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic Life Support Certification.
- Familiarity with EPIC and Digi Sonics system, familiarity with Echo Lab Accreditation Process.
