Title: TCH Congenital Heart Service (Instructor)
Summary
The Department of Congenital Heart Surgery is seeking a qualified cardiac trained surgeon with prior experience in congenital heart surgery for a clinical faculty position at the Texas Children's Hospital. This is a two-year position with options to extend further. This individual will be involved primarily as a first assist in surgery and clinical support as part of one of the busiest and highest-ranked Congenital Heart Surgery programs in the world at Texas Children's Hospital.
The candidate will be looking to further his knowledge in Congenital Heart Surgery and patient care management. The ideal candidate will have a United States Medical License or have completed all the United States Medical License Exams prior to starting the position. The recruited individual will be a full-time faculty member at the level of Instructor in the Department of Surgery, Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery, Baylor College of Medicine. The individual should be able to apply and be granted a Texas medical license.
This instructor position offers the opportunity to work with nationally recognized physician leaders. This candidate will have the opportunity to work in the state-of-the-art Legacy Tower, the new home of Texas Children's Heart Center - ranked #1 in the nation by U.S. News & World Report in Cardiology and Congenital Heart Surgery.
Legacy Tower encompasses 8 floors from Level 16-23 and will include the following:
- 4 Cardiovascular operating rooms
- 3 Cardiac ICU floors with 48 private rooms
- 2 Cardiac acute care floors with 42 private patient rooms and therapy gym
Qualifications
- Medical degree from an accredited medical school.
- Completion of an ACGME-accredited cardiothoracic residency program or international equivalent.
- Meets applicable credentialing and privileging standards for his/her specialty.
- Unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Texas (or the ability to obtain one prior to appointment), or completion of all steps of the United States Medical License Exam (USMLE) prior to starting the position.
- Eligible for faculty appointment in the Department of Surgery and Perioperative Care.
- Must be an innovative self-starter with a commitment to excellence.
