The Graduate Medical Education (GME) Supervisor oversees the day-to-day administrative operations for the Graduate Medical Education program for the School of Medicine, including providing support to all department level GME programs. This position would be directly responsible for managing a team of Education Specialists to support the needs of all training programs across the College. The position reports to the Senior Manager of Graduate Medical Education. 


The Office of Graduate Medical Education (GME) at Baylor College of Medicine serves as the official institutional liaison between its academic programs, affiliate partners, and the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). GME provides administrative oversight and academic quality for over 180 ACGME accredited and non-ACGME approved residency and clinical fellowship programs. 


This position requires an individual who can foster strong relationships and network with multiple levels of stakeholders across BCM. It is important for this individual to have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to handle sensitive issues with diplomacy and confidentiality.  This position supervises a team of 4 Education Specialists to collectively support the departmental GME programs. 


This is a hybrid position. After 3 months of successful completion of training, Candidate may work two days from home and three days in the office.

Job Duties

• Serves as the main contact for human resources needs for the GME community including hiring, terminations, and promotions. 
• Serves as the main contact for the support of GME programs (residency and clinical-post doc fellowship training programs).
• Oversees all activities related to annual onboarding and orientation of newly hired trainees. 
• Develops and implements process improvements, policies, procedures, and internal controls for effectively managing all GME-related projects and tasks. 
• Actively collaborates with department level GME personnel (PD, PC, Administrators) and College stakeholders to maximize effective GME operations.
• Manages a team of qualified administrative employees including defining job duties, setting performance development plans and goals, and conducting annual performance evaluations.
*Responsible for oversight of entry and proper maintenance of allocations of all trainees across the College in tandem with Senior Associate, Finance Operations.
• Collaborates with GME leadership to develop procedures for implementation and CQI of processes used to administer GME programs.
• Works closely with program directors and coordinators to monitor adherence to procedures and deadlines and manages that data as it relates to GME finance and operations. 
*Leads monthly meeting for communications with Program Coordinators/GME office staff. 
• Collaborates with multiple departments across the college on projects where GME expertise is needed. 
• Maintains a customer service culture within the GME office to provide proper support to all GME programs in the College. 
*Administers Graduate Medical Education Committee (a School of Medicine Committee).
• Responsible for maintenance of GME Office Website.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Four years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience in GME management software (such as MedHub) and SAP preferred
