Work Schedule:  Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Summary

The Supervisor of Business Operations is a key leadership role within the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine (PHM). This position is responsible for overseeing daily operational activities, managing personnel and human resources processes, coordinating faculty recruitment and credentialing, and directing purchasing, financial, and budget functions. The Supervisor collaborates closely with the Division Head of PHM and partners with Texas Children’s Hospital to advance the division’s strategic priorities and ensure efficient, high‑quality operational performance.

Job Duties

  • Oversees day to day operations across all mission areas, including human resources, finance, and administrative support.
  • Manages the Division's $34 million operational budget.
  • Reviews and approves financial transactions, payroll, and HR actions for faculty, staff, and trainees.
  • Prepares and analyzes financial reports for a variety of funding sources, including Texas Children's Hospital (TCH) operating funds, general appropriations, restricted gifts, and other revenue streams.
  • Leads faculty recruitment and onboarding efforts, coordinates credentialing across multiple hospital sites, and provides comprehensive HR support related to staff development, onboarding/offboarding, and performance management.
  • Supports operational activities across TCH community campuses in Katy, The Woodlands, and Austin.
  • Oversees the administrative support team by assigning work, monitoring performance, maintaining schedules, and conducting annual evaluations.
  • In collaboration with the Division Head, Pediatrics Administration, and TCH leadership, contributes to strategic staffing plans, faculty recruitment strategies, and operational initiatives.
  • Manages cost and effort allocations for Division employees,
  • Implements process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Supports pre and post-award research administration.
  • Serves as the primary liaison between the CRA and research faculty, overseeing grant related tasks, coordinating program level workflows, and manages PEPT distributions for research faculty, staff, and trainees.
  • Supports budget development and resource planning for principal investigators engaged in multi-year and multi-site projects. 
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Four years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Supervisory experience in healthcare or higher education.
