Job Purpose

The Center for Medical Ethics and Health policy is seeking a part-time (approximately 10-15 hours per week) Student Researcher to assist with research focused on the ethical, legal, and social implications (ELSI) of conducting genomics research with residents in the rural South. Specifically, the Student Researcher will assist with implementing a qualitative study that will improve our understanding of genomics research in underserved communities and inform evidence-based guidelines. This position is funded through June 2022 and eligible candidates will be currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program.

Job Duties

  • Assists with study recruitment and eligibility according to study inclusion/exclusion criteria.
  • Assists with contacting individuals who are eligible for the study by email and/or phone.
  • Assists with establishing community advisory groups through stakeholder engagement.
  • Assists with focus group moderation and note-taking.
  • Assists with qualitative data management and analysis.
  • Communicates regularly via email with the study PI to provide updates.
  • Attends project meetings as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be a High School or College Student (undergraduate or graduate).
  • No experience required.
