Summary
This position for a Staff Scientist is intended to fulfill our need for an experienced researcher to study hormone response in cultured cancer and non-cancer cells derived from mouse and human subjects. The approaches would include post-translational modification, immunoprecipitation, and ChIP-Assay, proteomics and various cell-free assays. The Staff Scientist should demonstrate a sound understanding of the concepts and methodologies in eukaryotic transcription regulation. Experience with omics analytics will be a plus.
Job Duties
- Assist other research scientists in our laboratory group perform and analyze cell and tumor materials.
- Perform cell culture based experiments and the handling of animal tissues.
- Work on an independent research project whose responsibilities will be focused on bench level scientific activities and the efficient documentation therof.
- Plan, direct and conduct research experiments.
- Evaluate and analyze data.
- Develop research techniques and perform applications required for specific research projects.
- May conduct literature searches and summarize information in an appropriate format for a particular study.
- Documents results of experiments and reports to principal investigators.
- Perform other job related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Doctoral Degree. Experience may not be substituted in lieu of degree.
- Three years of post doctoral research experience.
Department Specific Criteria
- Ph.D. in Chemistry, Computational Sciences, Computational Biology, Structural Biology, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Statistics, or related disciplines. May also include Ph.D. in Biology or Biomedical Sciences in combination with an M.S. or extensive multidisciplinary experience in one of the above quantitative fields.
- Strong experience in cell- and tissue-based approaches in molecular and cellular biology.
- Prior exposure to the concepts and methodologies in hormone signaling and transcriptional regulation is required.
- Must be highly motivated individual who can both work independently and as a team member within a large research laboratory setting.
- Proficient and diligent in record keeping, data and result communicating in writing and in oral presentations.
