Summary

Baylor College of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics, Immunology, Allergy and Retrovirology Division at Texas Children’s Hospital is seeking a highly motivated, responsible, and organized individual to join the Retrovirology Clinic as a part-time Social Worker. The selected candidate will be responsible for delivering the highest level of comprehensive social service support to HIV-infected and -exposed infants, children and adolescents, to adolescents and young adults seeking PrEP and to international adoptee's and their families. The clinic participates in the education of US and foreign health professionals and in clinical research in HIV and HIV prevention.

 

The competent level social worker who is proficient in delivering social support in the ambulatory care setting. Duties also include supervision of case managers, social workers, and transition navigator who make up the Retrovirology Social Service Team, preparing reports for the Ryan White Part D funded program, and understanding and entering data into the Ryan White Part D software required for reporting to the funders.  Serves as a resource for Licensed Vocational Nurse, Registered Nurse, and unlicensed staff members within the Retrovirology Clinic. 

Job Duties

  • The Social Worker will be responsible for providing services to the patients and families seeking care in the Section as described above.
  • Establishes rapport with participants that are enrolled or that are being asked to enroll in NIH grant studies.
  • Motivates participants to be active, engaged participants in their studies. 
  • Collects program data and entering the data into the program and state databases.
  • Coordinates with the project staff to schedule visits, send reminders, and contact participants for follow-up as needed.
  • With the assistance of the care coordination staff, helps patients utilize resources in their area and assist with applications for eligible programs.
  • Documents all activities, service plans, and results. 
  • Maintains confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines in regards to patient information.
  • Attends Division meetings.
  • Represents the Division, and the programs at community events. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work.
  • No experience required.
  • Licensed Baccalaureate Social Worker (LBSW) or Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) by The Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners (TSBSWE).
