Work Schedule:  Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Summary

The Senior Research Compliance Associate will assist with ensuring the College follows federal research regulations and guidance related to identifying and managing financial conflicts of interest (FCOI) and Institutional Conflicts of Interest (ICOI). This position will work closely with the Executive Director of Research Compliance, the Director of Research Compliance, the BCM Compliance and Audit Services, and Research IT concerning the College's Disclosure of Outside Interests module.

Job Duties

  • Provides assistance with department operations and activities for Research Conflicts of Interest and Commitment; trains new research compliance staff as appropriate.
  • Assists with aggregate quarterly and annual compliance reports, data, and report support for college leadership.
  • Conducts complex protocol and proposal reviews, and significant financial interest reviews; serves Principal Investigators and Staff with navigating the Disclosure of Outside Interest Tool for disclosures of Significant Financial Interests (SFIs).
  • Collaborates with Principal Investigators from across the college to manage FCOIs and ICOIs and ensure that all management plans are adhered to properly to comply with regulatory and college requirements.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert on regulatory guidance regarding requirements for managing research conflicts of interest (RCOI); applies applicable institutional policies and federal, state, and local regulations when reviewing research conflicts of interest, institutional conflicts of interest, and conflicts of commitment.
  • Assists with workshops and seminars regarding issues in RCOI, grants policy compliance, and conflicts of commitment to comply with regulations and college policy.
  • Partners with Principal Investigators from across the college to evaluate possible research activities to ensure compliance with regulatory and college requirements related to conflicts of commitment and non-BCM research activities.
  • Assists with developing, communicating, and implementing policies, procedures, disclosure form updates, disclosure system updates, and guidance for the College's research community and research oversight committees.
  • Collaborates with the Executive Director of Research IT and Executive Director of Research Compliance to develop and implement improvement projects.
  • Supports the oversight of the review of the proposal/protocol process review to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Advises and supports the Executive Director, Research Compliance of needed changes to organizational and operational processes and standards based on federal research regulations. 
  • Provides additional new and ongoing training to current and new members of the compliance team.
  • Helps guide the work of two employees and their activities of the research conflict of interest compliance group.
  • Works with team members to ensure completion of mutual performance goals. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 
     

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Four years of relevant experience.

Department Specific Criteria

  • Experience with research compliance.
