Summary
The DLDCCC is seeking a Senior Research Assistant in the lab of Dr. Radek Skoda. This role is essential for advancing the lab’s research projects. Performs complex, responsible research work of an advanced nature; uses own initiative or help others in planning and completing advanced research experiments in accordance with general directions from the principal investigator. The Sr. Research Assistant will conduct functional experiments using mouse models of myeloproliferative neoplasms, a form of chronic leukemia. experimentation, cell culture, as well as protein and molecular biology tech.

Job Duties
- Designs, plans, and oversees breeding schemes to obtain complex genotypes of genetically modified mouse strains.
- Performs genotyping of mice and manages the mouse colony.
- Draws blood from mice for cell counts and flow cytometry, performs tail vein injections for bone marrow transplantations, drug treatment of mice by oral gavage, or parenteral injections.
- Performs analyses of mouse tissues by flow cytometry, prepares samples for DNA and RNA sequencing, and immunohistochemistry.
- May conduct literature search and summarize information in an appropriate format for a particular study.
- May assist in grant preparation.
- Performs independent experiments as well as supervise less experienced research staff as needed.
- Presents data in a suitable format to the PI directly and at lab meetings.
- Helps with ordering reagents and supplies using institutional platforms.
- Conducts experiments as part of larger research projects involving multiple team members.
- Ability to independently evaluate, process and analyze data from experiments.
- Ability to keep accurate records.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field.
- Four years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in basic science or a related field.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Competence in using Microsoft, Adobe and Prism software.
- Understand the research goals and help planning experiments to achieve desired outcomes.
