Summary

The Bobby R. Alford Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery is seeking an operational leader to support the clinical mission.  The Senior Practice Manager will work to create and maintain a patient focused practice environment and will drive progress in clinical quality, patient experience, financial performance, and employee engagement and development.  This position requires collaboration with physician leadership within the department, as well as leaders in other departments and across Baylor College of Medicine.

Job Duties

  • Models the Mission, Values, Code of Ethics and Standards of Excellence of Baylor College of Medicine, adhering to BCM policies.
  • Communicates efficiently and effectively with staff members, faculty, and departmental leadership, collaborates with members of Education and Research Missions as appropriate.
  • Assumes responsibility for recruitment, onboarding, and orientation of new clinical staff members, and identifies areas of need for future workforce planning.
  • Manages practice by analyzing and improving resource utilization, minimizing operational costs without sacrificing quality of patient care.
  • Demonstrates understanding of key performance indicators that include: space/schedule utilization, coding patterns, collection rates, UHC wRVU targets, and patient experience reporting.
  • Oversees daily operations of the clinical practice including patient flow, capture of clinical information in Epic, encounter closure, staffing, and supply management.
  • Serves as the departmental liaison with essential central functions such as the Patient Resource Center, Patient Billing Services, Insurance Verification, and with hospital partner BSLMC.
  • Works closely with Business Operations Manager, Nursing Supervisor, and Administrator as needed for budgeting, reporting, as well as business development and practice growth.
  • Assists with management and development of patient referral pathways, appointment scheduling, and faculty template changes.
  • Collaborates with service line leaders to improve processes, complete specialized projects, and execute initiatives aimed at practice growth and service expansion.
  • This position may supervise, evaluate performance, promote/hire/discipline staff in the following roles: MA I, MA II, MA III, RN I, RN II, Audiologist, Speech and Language Pathologist, and Patient Care Coordinators.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare, Business, and Accounting or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • Three years of relevant experience in a related medical setting as a supervisor.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Experience in an academic medical center setting.
