Job Purpose

On behalf of the professional medical and/or medical administrative staff, provides information to patients and maintains good patient rapport. May obtain insurance pre-certifications and verifications and ensure reimbursement from patients or other responsible parties.

Job Duties

•        Responds to and assists physician with patient questions.

•        Obtain insurance pre-certifications and verifications.

•        Provides and explains educational material to patients

•        Informs patients on insurance-related matters and patient financial responsibility

•        Investigates insurance coverage and demographics.

•        Answers phones and provides information to patients or payors

•        Correspond with insurance companies regarding patient authorizations

•        Provides additional administrative support as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

  • Required: High school diploma or GED.

Experience:

  • Required: Three years of relevant experience.

Certification/Licenses/
Registration:

  • None required.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience:

  • Preferred: Bariatric surgical insurance verification, including prior-authorizations.
  • Preferred: Patient Financial Counseling experience
