The Human Genome Sequencing Center at the Baylor College of Medicine  is currently seeking a Senior Manager with 10 or more years of experience contributing and leading IT teams to oversee the execution and operations of its IT projects and associated infrastructure. In this leadership position you will directly contribute to the pioneering clinical and research initiatives by aligning the HGSC roadmap to its software and systems. Although a research and biology background is not required for this position, familiarity with academic medical and research institutions and human genetics is important.

Job Duties

  • Develop and implement processes for managing projects and operations to ensure that they meet customer needs, legal requirements, and organizational goals
  • Create and implement new methods of operation or improving existing ones to increase efficiency or reduce costs
  • Lead and manage software and system implementations and operation in both AWS cloud and on-prem environments
  • Lead and manage team of technical leads and engineers across on-prem and AWS cloud platforms and projects
  • Play a key role in validating QC plans, information security requirements and ensuring compliance for all clinical and research initiatives
  • Evaluate current infrastructure and operations to identify and resolve bottlenecks, and streamline and improve IT policies and protocols

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Five years of relevant experience. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or in a related field.
  • Master’s degree
  • Ten or more years of directly related work experience with five years of supervisory experience
  • Demonstrated experience with directing and managing software and system projects and operations, both cloud and on-prem
  • Demonstrated experience with leading and managing multiple IT teams including cloud, system and software engineers
  • Demonstrated experience with IT security and compliance in a clinical environment
  • Experience aligning IT roadmap to business and organizational goals 
  • Experience with AWS cloud and on-prem IT infrastructure, services and software
  • Experience with establishing IT processes and protocols to increase efficiencies, reduce cost and to meet security and compliance requirements
  • Strong leadership and communication, with excellent problem-solving,critical-thinking, verbal and written communication skills
