Participates in the financial and business operational aspects of the pediatric and obstetrics/gynecology affiliation with Texas Children's Hospital (TCH) and mutual adherence to signed Operating Agreement (OA), the Agreement for Physician Services (APS) and other contractual arrangements between BCM and TCH. Associated with building and sustaining relationships with clinical and administrative leaders at each entity that results in a greater degree of collaboration and transparency. Manages the administrative, human resources, financial and accounting aspects of the BCM Operating Unit relating to Pediatric Surgery, Hospital Based services and Pediatric Other sections (TCH). Assists in the creation of the BCM budget and participates in the TCPSO budgeting process. Reports to Executive Director, BCM/TCH Academic Affiliation. Oversees a small team.

Job Duties

  • Manages and oversees the BCM Operating Unit team which supports the business relationships and operations of 8 surgical units and 6 hospital based departments at TCH.
  • Partners, communicates and cultivates relationships with TCH department administrators, leadership teams and administrative support.
  • Oversees financial and budgetary related functions for the BCM Operating Unit.
  • Reviews and releases documents in SAP, SRM, Concur and SF for approval.
  • Reviews financial transactions for accuracy and making sure they conform with college policy.
  • Monitors departmental expenses to make sure they are in line with appropriate cost centers.
  • Coordinates and leads the monthly TCH/BCM Support meetings for the TCH administrators and administrative support.
  • Facilitates the JMC work groups. Provides updates to the BCM/TCH JMC Subcommittees on a biannual basis.
  • Identifies and confronts problems with any misalignment to the Agreement for Physician Services (APS) early with the appropriate stakeholders and escalates to the JMC Clinical Subcommittee.
  • Maintains full BCM system access to all related financial and HR data pertaining to the BCM Operating Units. Utilizes this data to generate the reporting necessary for cost center management across all funding types to ensure compliance with College/Hospital policies and operational effectiveness. Determines the appropriate use of this information both internally and externally.
  • Ensures reconciliation between College/Hospital for transactional clarity and transparency.
  • Provides coordination of all personnel changes involving Faculty and Staff within the BCM Operating Units, ensuring compliance to College/Hospital approval and workflow.
  • Evaluates and implements where appropriate processes for standardized workflows across the BCM Operating Units to generate efficiencies in administrative operations; including but not limited to faculty on-boarding, annual GME budget/approvals, physician productivity and data capture.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Five years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree.
  • Experience in an academic healthcare settings.
