Summary

The Senior Manager, Business Operations, in partnership with the Administrator, is responsible for the strategic and ongoing development, direction, and supervision of assigned ophthalmology clinic(s) and/or departmental units. The Senior Manager, Business Operations is responsible for the efficient and effective practice operations in addition to activities related to financial management, revenue cycle performance, personnel management, operations, clinical service, clinical practice analysis and other activities as assigned. The Senior Manager Operations position provides excellent customer service while maximizing clinical revenue through efficient and effective clinical operations. The manager position responsibilities include managing the daily work activities of the clinic staff and ensuring that all clinical activities meet Baylor’s expectations for timeliness, safety, quality and service. in addition, this position provides guidance to staff and is responsible for staffing, budget compliance, contributing to staffing decisions such as hiring and terminating employment, coaching and counseling employees on work related performance, and assisting in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure a safe and effective work environment.

Job Duties

  • Manage the daily operation of a department or unit including, but not limited to, areas of human resources, compliance and financial management.
  • Manage primarily supervisors and/or experienced professional level employees, to include defining work responsibilities and prioritization, setting performance development plans and goals, and conducting annual performance evaluations.
  • Develop, manage, and control budgets and a variety of financial data. Establish financial and operational systems to monitor, control, and verify expenditures and carry out financial analyses.
  • Develop staffing plans and productivity guidelines according to budget availability and department/unit needs.
  • Develop and implement successful strategies for revenue growth and expense control.
  • Manage the human resources activities for the unit/department, including hiring, terminations, salary, and disciplinary actions.
  • Actively collaborate with key department and College stakeholders to maximize effective business operations.
  • Formulate policies and guidelines for unit/department activities.
  • Review and approve all statements of accounts, payroll, human resources, and invoice actions.
  • Oversee or originate special projects or programs.
  • May oversee or originate pre-award and/or post-award related projects and tasks in support of department faculty members.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Five years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree Preferred
