Work Schedule:  Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Summary

The Institute for Clinical and Translational Research in close collaboration with IT Research and Data Technology is offering a position of Senior Informatics Associate in a team-based office/hybrid setting. This role provides an opportunity to contribute to projects and activities focused on the Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) Program at Baylor College of Medicine and the University of Houston. Through close collaboration with investigators, IT and other stakeholder groups, the selected candidate will leverage their data and informatics expertise to transform healthcare by analyzing, designing, developing, and implementing solutions that enhance individual and population health outcomes, enable research projects and improve patient care.

 

This is a grant funded position to support the Consortium for Translational and Precision Health (CTPH). The duration is six (6) years with the possibility of an additional seven (7) year competing renewal.

 

Location: Texas Medical Center. After the training period, this position may become eligible for an Alternative Work Arrangement (AWA/Hybrid) schedule.

 

Working under general supervision, the Senior Informatics Associate will gather business requirements, share information on available data resources, host informational sessions related to key self-service and data analytics tools, assess stakeholder needs, provide products from data warehouses / data marts, and ensure that existing analytics/reporting solutions are functioning properly.


This candidate will have exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, be regarded as a team player, have strong and proven organizational skills, and have a personal drive to be their best.  Experience working with SQL Server, Oracle, APIs, JSON, and Epic EHR.

Job Duties

  • Supports the initiatives related to the Clinical and Translational Science Award Program (CTSA) and works with team members to deliver planned solutions, products and services.
  • Gathers business requirements and assess stakeholder information needs to both utilize existing solutions from the data warehouse and evaluate new solutions.
  • Assists Principal Investigators (PIs) in obtaining relevant data for research purposes.
  • Conducts research into new data warehouse applications and determines viability for adoption; assists in the development of standards and master data.
  • Provides informatics solutions including reports, dashboards and data models. Recommends best practices and methodologies related to data applications and systems.
  • Troubleshoots and tunes existing data warehouse applications, learning new technologies and adopting them, as needed.
  • Evaluates existing subject areas stored in the data warehouse.
  • Incorporates existing subject areas into an enterprise model.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.  Four years of relevant experience may substitute for degree requirement. 
  • Four years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related field and two years of relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Experience working with SQL Server, Oracle, APIs, JSON, SAS, Python, R and EHR data.
  • Epic EHR, Azure, AWS, Data Integrations and/or SQL Server certifications strongly preferred.
