The role of the Senior Project Manager (PM) is to plan, execute, and finalize projects according to deadlines, scope, and within defined budgets.  This includes identifying resource needs and driving teams in successful delivery of projects through both waterfall and agile style approaches.  The Senior Project Manager will lead their project teams and collaborate with their project sponsors in all aspects of delivery.

A primary focus of this senior level role will be the continued successful implementation of projects related to BCM’s Digital Workspace (DW) Program, Core Infrastructure Projects, and the likes. Successful delivery is gauged in terms of customer satisfaction, delivery of agreed-to scope / requirements, within the defined schedule and budget. The selected candidate will assume a senior level project leadership responsibility for projects both in conception and already underway.  This includes engagement in a senior and mentoring capacity with junior level project managers.  

Transitioning into this leadership role will require the PM to engage with various college stakeholder in obtaining their support and in managing their expectations. This role will own all aspects of project delivery, from initial chartering through WBS / Schedule creation and ultimately project close-out.  The BCM project methodology closely aligns with PMI Standards for waterfall style efforts, while Agile efforts align with Scrum.  The Senior Project Manager is expected to be understand and be conversant in both PMI PMBOK and Agile framework, applying related concepts and practices in day-to-day leadership of assigned efforts.

The Senior Project Manager will leverage the BCM IT PM Methodology and maintain solid project hygiene. The selected candidate will demonstrate advanced MS Project skills (resource leveling, EVM) and advanced MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) suite skills.  In addition, the successful candidate will have hands-on project management experience in deployment of productivity tools (i.e. Microsoft’s O365 capabilities - Microsoft Teams, Teams Voice, SharePoint, OneDrive, etc.) and as a plus, Intranet portals in an enterprise environment.


This position is largely remote, though some on-site presence in various work locations across the Baylor College of Medicine campus is required from time to time, dependent on project activity.

Job Duties

•    Application of PMI PMBoK across 42 project processes, 9 knowledge areas and 5 process groups.
•    Familiar with Agile Frameworks and how they are leveraged to delivery continuous value to stakeholders. 
•    Development and delivery of functional and technical specifications.
•    Development and maintenance of project schedules and Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) to include financial forecasting / resource loading.
•    Formal development and management of project budgets via EVM methodology.
•    Formal Risk and Issues Management coupled with formal decision making and registry. 
•    Formal project Change Management (in-take, assessment, presentment, action). 
•    Regular periodic and ad-hoc communications to all stakeholders (e.g., Project Team, SteerCo/OpCo, Sponsors, PMO).
•    Weekly formal status reports including Cost and Schedule variance and corrective actions. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.  Four years of relevant experience may substitute for degree requirement. 
  • Four years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or a related field
  • Twelve years of technology experience with 5 years leading IT projects
  • PMP 
  • Multiple experiences delivering IT infrastructure projects with favor shown to experienced PMs having lead Microsoft O365 collaborative tools implementations.
  • Intranet (portal) deployment and user experience engagement, Unily platform experience a plus
  • Experience in leading cross-functional matrixed teams.
