Designs, implements, and manages Information Technology support systems and infrastructure deployment, network administration, maintenance, functioning, and for providing network backup and recovery procedures. Also provides high-level technical end user hardware and software support and training.  This role is versatile so knowledge with server, storage and networking is a plus.  Will also assist with some laptop and PC set up and troubleshooting.

Job Duties

  • Designs and manages the lifecycle of support systems from inception to end-of-life.
  • Stays current with technological advances in virtualization and server platforms.
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and College policies.
  • Manages and monitors security compliance.
  • Oversees data center infrastructure requirements.
  • Installs, configures and manages servers, workstations, networks and support systems including virtualization software, networking, server operating systems and backups for achieving the overall goals and needs of Research IT.
  • Monitors and evaluates new technologies which might be utilized to enhance BCM’s research and clinical processes.
  • Serves as an active team member participating in user needs assessment, priority setting and resource utilization, planning, implementation and upgrade.
  • Facilitates and/or makes effective and timely decisions to resolve identified problems.
  • Strives to "look outside the box" in analyzing problems and developing solutions with continuing education.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree. Four years of relevant experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • Four years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Technology
  • Knowledge of Server and desktop operating systems: Windows, Linux and Mac OS.
  • Knowledge of virtualization: VMWare, Hyper-V, Virtualbox.
  • Basic knowledge of networking is required.
  • Working knowledge of Visual Studio, SQL Server, AWS, Backup software.
  • Able to communicate effectively, tactfully and in a helpful manner with employees, supervisors, users, staff members and a variety of vendors and guests.
  • Ability and temperament to exercise good judgment in emergency or crisis situations.
  • Temperament to adapt to rapidly changing conditions.
